Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is the major health provider in the Central Hume region with an extensive range of acute, sub-acute, aged care and community services.

NHW have a sensational opportunity for an ICU liaison Nurse Practitioner to join our Intensive Care Unit. Nurse Practitioners are educated and authorised to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role, seeking advice in regards to clinical management from the Senior ICU registrar and consultant or other health professionals, as deemed necessary.

The core business of the ICULNP is to assess and manage complex patients and patients at risk of deterioration, in the acute wards and day procedure units.

Assessment will include the use of appropriate diagnostic tools as necessary which will provide the foundation of clinically relevant interventions. The ICULNP functions autonomously but will seek advice in regards to clinical management from the senior ICU consultant or registrar on duty or other health professionals as deemed necessary. Multidisciplinary care with other health professionals will occur in accordance with patient needs and the ICULNP consult with patient’s home team as required.

The ICULNP place a key role in facilitating patient disposition to the most suitable bed, taking into consideration patient complexity, the ward capability and safe patient care ratios. The role is grounded in the nursing profession's values, knowledge, theories and practise.

To be eligible for this position, you will be required to provide confirmation that you have satisfied the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to be endorsed in accordance with section 95 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act in addition to meeting the key selection criteria.
