NHW is the major regional health service and specialist referral facility for Northeast Victoria. It serves a population of approximately 102,000, performs over 6,500 procedures a year and has over 19,000 inpatient episodes and 30,000 Emergency Department attendances a year and approximately 700 births per year. We have onsite radiology, pathology and blood bank service. NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services, an emergency department, critical care unit (ICU, HDU, CCU), obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, specialised aged care, medical oncology services, community rehabilitation, inpatient, community, aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services. 

NHW has recently completed a major redevelopment, including the building of a new emergency department, ICU, and expansion of medical and paediatric units

Northeast Health is looking to recruit a General Medical Physician to join our Internal Medicine team and provide safe, patient-centred and evidence-based care to patients within our community.

The role involves the provision of medical care within the Acute Assessment Unit. When rostered, the successful applicant will attend morning handover and provide direct clinical care to patients admitted under the unit, working collaboratively with the broader multidisciplinary team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive medical team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality general medical services across Northeast Health. Opportunities for a larger clinical load may also be available for applicants interested in additional general medicine work.

Priority will be given to applicants looking to relocate, however the role may also suit applicants willing to commute on a regular basis. Initial accommodation support can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
