Accounting Manager

Location: Remote within the United States, with preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central time zones

Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt

Salary Range: $110,000 to $120,000 annually

Travel: Less than 5%

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our month-end close process and oversee key accounting functions in a high-volume environment. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance technical accounting responsibilities with team development, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will have ownership of the general ledger, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll-related accounting. Experience in staffing, workforce solutions, PEO, or EOR environments is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process and ensure the general ledger is accurate, complete, and closed on schedule.
  • Prepare, review, and approve journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including billing, cash application, collections, and factoring program accounting.
  • Oversee accounts payable, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment cycles.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members.
  • Partner with payroll and tax teams to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Support internal controls, external audits, and accounting process improvements.
  • Maintain consistent and well-documented accounting policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of public accounting experience.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience.
  • Strong payroll accounting experience.
  • Experience managing month-end close in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active CPA license.
  • Experience in staffing, workforce solutions, PEO, or EOR.
  • Experience with a 4-4-5 or similar accounting calendar.
  • Experience with ERP migrations or implementations.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct.
