6-month assignment, contract to hire opportunity
Location: Remote (Central Standard Hours)
Duration: April 27, 2026 - October 31, 2026
Pay Rate: $65.00 - $85.00/hourly (with required experience)
Occasional work travel for projects (once a month - quarterly)
Role Overview
This role focuses on security rollout and upgrade projects, with some related infrastructure work. Key responsibilities include defining scope, building and managing schedules, and balancing detailed progress tracking with high-level status updates for stakeholders. Executive stakeholders expect timely delivery, so managing issues and blockers, assigning ownership, and returning projects to green status is critical. Vendors are usually selected before the PM is assigned. Issue management is more reactive than risk-focused on these projects. Typically, the role involves managing 3–6 projects at a time, with occasional increases. This role will also benefit from program management experience, as it may involve coordinating smaller, related initiatives without direct ownership or authority over all workstreams.
The client is an evolving Project Management Office (PMO) focused on continuous improvement and growth. The priorities for the year include strengthening project delivery, enhancing and maturing PMO processes, and integrating AI-driven tools into our daily workflows.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the oversight of the entire project lifecycle from project initiation to implementation for medium to large-sized project teams with moderate to high complexity and/or impact identify project goals, needs and scope.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including a project plan and schedule.
- Plan, monitor, and document tasks throughout a project.
- Ensure all tasks, deliveries, and project materials are delivered promptly.
- Manage all resources necessary for project execution.
- Foster effective communication with stakeholders concerning project status.
- Foresee and strategically eliminate blocks and potential risks. Ensure top quality results and success for a project. Interpret internal/external business environment.
- Recommend best practices to improve processes or services.
- Impact achievements of customer, operational, project or service objectives.
- Communicate difficult concepts to team to generate clarity and alignment on projects, initiatives, and various work products.
- Perform specialized assignments; solve complex problems and develop non-traditional solutions through sophisticated analytical thinking.
- May lead functional projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
- Individual contributor working independently; may require guidance in highly complex situations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Experience
- Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience; candidates with 10+ years of experience are highly preferred.
- Experience as program oversight over casual project leads is helpful (those that are not PMs but playing this type of role).
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Project Management Professional or similar certification highly preferred.
- Agile Certification preferred. track record managing multidisciplinary teams across infrastructure and business domains.
- Experience with infrastructure projects (network, server, identity, end-user computing) is highly beneficial.
- Deep knowledge of project management; PMP Certification preferred.
