Senior Product Designer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to support the design of complex, scalable platform capabilities used across assessment-related systems. This role is ideal for a thoughtful, user-centered designer who can bring clarity to complex data, workflows, and technical systems while partnering closely with product, engineering, research, and operations teams.

The Senior Product Designer will help guide product discovery, shape design strategy, and deliver intuitive, accessible, and production-ready experiences. This person should be comfortable working in technical environments, collaborating directly with engineers, and helping teams that may be newer to design understand the value of user-centered practices.

This is a long-term opportunity supporting cross-functional technology teams.

About the Team

This team builds and evolves shared platform capabilities that support assessment-related systems used at scale. The work spans a range of assessment environments, from routine evaluation to more complex, high-stakes use cases where accuracy, consistency, reliability, and trust are essential.

The team works across engineering, product, design, data, and operations to create reliable capabilities that can be reused, adapted, and improved over time. The environment values continuous learning, experimentation, thoughtful collaboration, iteration, and careful decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Product Discovery and Design Strategy

  • Apply design thinking to understand user needs, reframe complex problems, and create intuitive, scalable, human-centered product solutions.
  • Conduct and synthesize generative, formative, and evaluative research, including user interviews, usability testing, and surveys.
  • Facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions to align stakeholders and uncover opportunities.
  • Translate user, behavioral, operational, and system data into actionable insights.
  • Influence prioritization and roadmap discussions by connecting user needs with product goals.
  • Advocate for human-centered, inclusive, and accessible design practices.
  • Use storytelling to communicate product vision, design direction, and user value.

Design Execution and Delivery

  • Partner closely with product managers and engineers to translate concepts into detailed, production-ready designs.
  • Create design artifacts including user flows, journey maps, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
  • Map complex systems, workflows, and data structures into clear and usable experiences.
  • Apply and contribute to design systems to ensure visual and functional consistency.
  • Write and test content using plain language principles to support clarity and accessibility.
  • Conduct usability testing and experimentation to validate design decisions.
  • Perform accessibility reviews and audits to support inclusive design standards.
  • Design responsive, mobile-first experiences for web and mobile platforms.
  • Experiment with generative AI tools to support ideation, prototyping, and design exploration.
  • Use tools such as Figma, Miro, and Dovetail to design, document, and test work.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, leadership, and other stakeholders throughout the design and development process.
  • Participate in team ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, design reviews, and QA cycles.
  • Translate design decisions into clear specifications for implementation.
  • Present research findings, concepts, and design recommendations with confidence and clarity.
  • Provide consultative guidance to teams that may be less familiar with product design practices.
  • Contribute to broader design operations efforts, including shared tools, systems, templates, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong product design experience with complex, content-rich websites, applications, or platforms.
  • Experience understanding, organizing, and simplifying complex data systems or technical workflows.
  • Ability to map complexity into clear user flows, service flows, diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Strong skills in information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI design.
  • Proficiency with Figma, with experience using tools such as Miro and Dovetail preferred.
  • Experience applying human-centered design and design thinking methodologies.
  • Experience conducting or supporting user research, usability testing, and synthesis.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and co-creation activities.
  • Strong understanding of design systems, responsive design, mobile-first design, and accessibility standards.
  • Comfortable collaborating with engineers and discussing technical constraints, feasibility, and implementation details.
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong consultative skills, including the ability to guide teams that are newer to working with designers.
  • Commitment to clear, inclusive, ethical, and user-centered design.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while staying aligned with a broader team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for enterprise platforms, education technology, assessment systems, data-heavy tools, or other complex digital ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies and how design decisions translate into implementation.
  • Experience contributing to or evolving a design system.
  • Experience using generative AI tools for ideation, workflow acceleration, or prototyping.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates clean, modern visual design, strong interaction design, and the ability to simplify complex systems.
