Position: Senior Fullstack Software Engineer (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer who thrives on building high quality, resilient data solutions at scale. You will design and deliver serverless data pipelines and event driven microservices on AWS, optimize complex SQL workloads in Redshift, and contribute to analytics and quality engineering automation. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands on work across data engineering, analytics enablement, and automated testing within a modern AWS stack.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering to design, build, test, deploy, and support data intensive services and features
  • Build and maintain production grade, event driven microservices using Node.js and Python
  • Design and operate serverless ETL pipelines that automate data ingestion and transformation into Redshift
  • Optimize complex SQL for performance and reliability, including joins, window functions, and large scale aggregations
  • Integrate Redshift Serverless with AWS services and BI tools for real time analytics and dashboards
  • Implement unit testing, code reviews, and quality engineering and automation practices
  • Apply AWS security, performance, and cost optimization best practices
  • Document data models, data contracts, and operational runbooks

Required experience

  • 5 plus years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer focused on data platforms and analytics
  • Expert level SQL skills for extraction, transformation, optimization, and reporting
  • Hands on experience with Redshift Serverless, including integration with S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, and streaming or near real time data sources
  • Proven experience building serverless ETL with Lambda and orchestrating with Step Functions
  • Strong proficiency with core AWS services used in data and event driven architectures
  • Production experience with Python and Node.js
  • Working knowledge of AI or ML technologies in a data engineering context
  • Exposure to DevOps tooling and automation in cloud environments
  • Strong communication skills and a customer focused mindset

Preferred tech stack proficiency

  • Redshift and SQL: Advanced or Expert
  • BI tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, or Looker: Advanced
  • AWS DynamoDB: Advanced
  • Generative AI or ML exposure: Intermediate
  • AWS Step Functions: Intermediate
  • AWS Lambda: Intermediate
  • AWS S3: Intermediate
  • AWS SNS and SQS: Intermediate
  • AWS CloudFormation: Intermediate
  • Python: Intermediate
  • Node.js: Intermediate
  • JavaScript ES6: Novice or better

Tools and technologies you will use

AWS Redshift Serverless, S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, Athena, Kinesis, CloudFormation, OpenSearch, and BI tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, or Looker. Event driven microservices in Node.js and Python. Agile collaboration and modern code quality practices.

 

 Pay Rate Range: $65-$75 per hr (Depending on Experience)
