General Information

Salaried DIRECT/PERM HIRE role

Salary $160k+ (dependent upon location, experience, etc.)

Preferred Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid) | Remote Consideration for exceptional candidates outside of this area.

Preferred Start Date: June 23rd

Candidates must have: Package & Engineering experience, Cosmetics packaging experience (Beauty industry background preferred).

CAD skills would be a bonus for candidates considered.

Language Requirements:

Required: Fluent in English (written and verbal)

Preferred: Proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin is a strong plus, especially for collaboration with international teams and suppliers.

 

Accomplished and strategic Director of Package Development Engineering with a proven track record of leading end-to-end packaging development for both custom and sourced solutions. Expert in driving engineering excellence, ensuring quality compliance, and integrating innovative technologies to enhance packaging performance and cost-efficiency. Adept at managing cross-functional and international teams, including oversight of engineering operations in China. Skilled in FMEA implementation, patent research, and transforming 3D concepts into manufacturable designs using SolidWorks. A trusted technical advisor who collaborates effectively with sales, R&D, and manufacturing teams to deliver packaging solutions that meet rigorous customer and market standards. Lead engineering efforts for sourced packaging and custom packaging solutions for internal and customer projects.

Job Description

  • Responsible for quality issues on custom and sourced packages up to the first production order.
  • Review and approve detailed packaging specifications, technical drawings, dimensional reports, and mold validation to ensure alignment with customer requirements, quality standards, and manufacturability.
  • Overseeing the implementation of Design Overview, Specifications, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to mitigate project risks proactively.
  • Drive launch quality processes to ensure all products meet rigorous quality standards before market release.
  • Spearhead continuous packaging improvements through improved engineering, new materials, or by integrating new technologies that enhance design, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Overseeing all patent activities and conducting patent searches to protect intellectual property and identify opportunities for innovation. Ability to work with outside counsel on patent activities.
  • Oversees all development engineering team activities, with direct reports in the USA and dotted line management of the project engineering team in China.
  • Served as the principal technical expert, collaborating with sales teams, manufacturing facilities, and key customers. Oversee testing and validation of new technologies and capabilities.
  • Strong SolidWorks skills preferred with the ability to transform concepts into manufacturable designs using SolidWorks.
  • Strong written and verbal skills; Effectively communicated complex technical concepts to non-technical team members and customers to ensure clear, efficient collaboration.
  • Working with the Supply Chain department, evaluate and collaborate with external packaging suppliers and manufacturers to ensure engineering and quality expectations are met.
