Job: Expert Intersystems Platform Administrator

Location: 100 percent remote within the United States (Preference to candidates on the west coast)
Work hours: Standard 8 hour day. Every third week includes level 2 on call coverage. West Coast hours preferred to align with follow the sun support.
Why this role matters
Own the reliability, performance, and always on availability of Tier 1 Intersystems platforms that power mission critical clinical and business operations. You will support an ongoing Epic migration, help modernize a large scale environment with 130 plus servers, and ensure HA and DR across data centers.
What you will do
- Provide senior level support for Ensemble, HealthShare HIE, and IRIS for Health with participation in a rotating level 2 on call schedule. Level 1 handles most incidents and escalates as needed.
- Manage and monitor multi environment Intersystems infrastructure across AIX and Linux. Focus is the application and database stack rather than OS administration.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, system health checks, and capacity planning for Cache and IRIS.
- Design, develop, and maintain ObjectScript automation including installer and operational utilities.
- Review, standardize, and maintain ZAUTHENTICATE routines for secure authentication.
- Design and maintain role based access and security administration that maps Intersystems roles to Active Directory for single sign on.
- Build and configure new instances, edges, namespaces, and environments. Maintain multi terabyte Cache and IRIS databases.
- Lead and support the migration from AIX and Cache to Linux and IRIS. You will prepare platforms and namespaces rather than migrate interfaces.
- Execute change management for production work, including scheduling and documentation.
- Initiate and manage vendor cases with the Intersystems WRC including log collection and follow through to resolution.
- Create and maintain clear technical and operational documentation. Participate in daily Scrum and regular planning ceremonies.
What you bring
- 3 plus years hands on administration of Intersystems Cache, HealthShare HIE, and IRIS.
- Strong ObjectScript skills for operational automation and installer scripting.
- Direct experience with ZAUTHENTICATE and authentication workflows.
- Expertise in security administration for Cache and IRIS including role creation and access control scripting integrated with Active Directory.
- Proven support of mission critical 24x7 platforms with HA and DR including data center failovers.
- Solid troubleshooting, customer focused communication, and risk aware decision making in production.
- Experience with Unix based systems including AIX and Linux. Deep OS admin is not required as a separate team manages compute and storage.
- Familiarity with change management and version control practices.
Nice to have
- Background with healthcare integration platforms and HIE environments.
- Exposure to Epic data flows or integration environments. Epic experience is a plus, not required.
- Experience operating at scale including large servers up to 40 CPUs and Cache or IRIS databases approaching 16 TB.
- Cloud exposure is acceptable but not required for this role.
Work setup and schedule
- Remote first role across the United States.
- Preference for West Coast hours to complement East Coast and India coverage and to provide late day level 2 support without after hours calls.
- Standard 8 hour day. Every third week includes on call responsibilities that align with your shift.
Pay Rate Range: $60-$70 per hr (Depending on Experience)
