Lead DevOps Engineer with Application Development Experience

Make a direct impact on secure, high scale digital assessment platforms. Join a high visibility team building web and native applications that reach learners across the globe. You will own and evolve cross platform build systems, harden CI and delivery pipelines, and mentor engineers while collaborating closely with product, architecture, QA, and partner teams.
What you will do
- Lead build engineering for Windows, Mac, and Chromebook to ensure reliable, scalable, repeatable builds
- Assess and improve web module bundlers, build tooling, and monorepo workflows using NX or similar
- Evaluate and optimize Electron based desktop build architecture
- Own and enhance CI and CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild and CodePipeline
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using CloudFormation and CDK
- Improve dependency management, vulnerability remediation, and release governance
- Establish and document Git branching strategies and DevOps best practices
- Troubleshoot build, deployment, and infrastructure issues in real time as an escalation point
- Partner with developers, QA, and business stakeholders to improve delivery cohesion and speed
- Mentor engineers in DevOps, build engineering, and automation practices
- Drive measurable improvements in build time, reliability, and deployment confidence
Required qualifications
- 5 or more years in DevOps, build engineering, or platform engineering
- Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency, and drive
- Solid experience with web technologies including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience supporting both desktop and web application build pipelines
- Ability to mentor and influence without formal authority and to document and standardize processes
- Hands on Infrastructure as Code experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK
- Experience improving dependency management and vulnerability remediation
- Proven CI and CD pipeline design and maintenance using GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild
- Strong web component bundler expertise including assessing, refactoring, and explaining configuration changes
- Deep hands on experience with Windows build environments and Windows OS level considerations
- Strong AWS experience including services such as CloudFormation, CloudWatch, CloudFront, DynamoDB, EC2, ECR, ECS, IAM, Lambda, Route53, S3, and VPC
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud cost optimization
- Background building applications with C++
- Experience with Electron in desktop applications
- Experience in large monorepo environments using tools like NX
- Experience formalizing Git branching and release strategies across teams
- Experience evaluating or migrating away from Electron based architectures
- Enterprise scale DevOps experience in regulated or structured environments
- Experience with operational support using tools such as PagerDuty

About the team
We are a 20 person Digital Assessment team with 15 engineers across web, native, and infrastructure. We move quickly, collaborate openly, and experiment thoughtfully to deliver secure and accessible assessment experiences at scale. You will report into a senior engineering leader and be embedded with engineers who value mentorship, pragmatism, and measurable outcomes.

Pay Rate Range: $65-$75 per hr (Depending on Experience)
