About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager who combines strong hands-on software engineering skills with proven people leadership experience. This role will lead a team responsible for building and enhancing critical technology capabilities that support accommodations management workflows.

The ideal candidate is a technical leader who stays close to the code while also coaching engineers, driving delivery, and ensuring strong engineering practices. You will contribute to architecture and development using TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and AWS cloud services, while partnering with product, architecture, security, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop an engineering team

  • Manage, mentor, and support a team of 5 to 8 engineers
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and career development support
  • Support team health, engagement, and performance management processes

Drive hands-on technical leadership and delivery

  • Contribute directly to system design and hands-on development
  • Build and enhance applications using TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and AWS services
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of platform capabilities from design through deployment and production support
  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, resilient, maintainable, and observable
  • Establish and reinforce modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and code quality standards
  • Partner with architecture, security, compliance, and other technical teams to align on technical direction
  • Support the thoughtful adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate

Support cross-functional alignment

  • Partner with product owners to translate business needs into clear technical plans
  • Manage dependencies across teams, services, and systems
  • Communicate progress, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, prioritization, and execution strategy

Required Qualifications

  • 6 to 8 or more years of software engineering experience
  • 2 or more years of experience managing engineering teams
  • Strong hands-on development experience with TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React
  • Experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS
  • Strong Node.js experience
  • Proven ability to contribute to system design and architecture while remaining hands-on with coding
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and secure development
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex, cross-functional delivery initiatives
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Thoughtful, proactive leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement and team engagement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with workflow-driven, case management, decisioning, or compliance-sensitive systems
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or data-driven product capabilities
  • Experience working with platform-based architectures or shared services ecosystems
  • Familiarity with security and regulatory considerations related to sensitive user data 

 Pay Rate Range: $60-$75 per hr (Depending on Experience)
