The Opportunity                      

Working closely with all teams within the CHPP, the CHPP Maintenance Technician – Equipment Inspector (Mechanical) plays a pivotal role in the work management process. You will ensure identified defects are accurately scoped, prioritised and prepared for execution to support safe operations and meet planning cycle requirements.

This is a dynamic role that provides a high level of autonomy and requires strong engagement with internal stakeholders and external service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop scopes of work from defects, condition monitoring data and engineering recommendations.
  • Ensure work execution readiness through accurate scoping, documentation and validation.
  • Review completed work to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Identify mechanical defects and risks and contribute to risk assessments and control strategies.
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives and fixed plant maintenance strategies.
  • Work with engineering teams to develop repair strategies and validate findings.
  • Contribute to inspection techniques, procedures, work instructions and reporting improvements.
  • Prepare and complete change management documentation, chemical and store stock requests.
  • Assist with shutdown coordination and review of weekly and shutdown schedules.
  • Identify cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with RCA investigations and introduction of new equipment to site.
  • Provide coverage for other equipment inspector roles as required.
  • Support execution of scheduled, breakdown and troubleshooting work when directed.

Qualifications and experience

  • Mechanical or fabrication trade qualification.
  • CHPP and/or infrastructure maintenance experience.
  • Proven ability to scope and prepare work for execution.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (Pulse or similar).
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards related to structural integrity and welding.
  • Basic understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and multitasking skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to process.
  • Sound computer skills (Microsoft Office suite).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive safety mindset with the ability to influence safe behaviours.
  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) or willingness to obtain.
