About the role | Kō tēnei tūranga mahi
Nelson Public Libraries are busy, dynamic environments, at the hub of our community. We are seeking an enthusiastic, friendly customer focused team member to join our team. This role works an average of 40 hours per week, over a 4 week roster. The roster will include weekend work, one weekend of every four.
In this role, you’ll take the lead in delivering exceptional customer service across Nelson Public Libraries. As a key point of contact in the public area, you’ll support staff with day-to-day operational queries and help maintain high service standards. You’ll also assist with team administration, support collection management tasks, and contribute to project work that helps keep our libraries running smoothly and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have:
- A good level of digital competence and confidence across a range of technology (including mobile devices and computer software such as MS Office: Outlook/Word/Excel/Powerpoint)
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Effective communication skills, both in person and written
- Strong relationship management skills
- Excellence and commitment to customer service
- Good judgement
- The ability to adapt and make improvements part of every day work
- Initiative, prioritisation and time management skills
- A desire to collaborate, learn and share knowledge
