MRAEL, in partnership with Sandvik, is seeking a motivated and hands‑on Diesel Fitter Apprentice to join the team based in Mount Isa, commencing April 2026.

About the Role

As a first‑year Diesel Fitter Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople, gaining hands‑on experience in the repair, maintenance, and rebuild of heavy mobile equipment, including:

  • Trucks
  • Loaders
  • Drills
  • Continuous miners
  • Associated components and systems

This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, committed to safety, and motivated to build a long‑term career with a global mining leader.

Work Type:

  • Full‑time apprenticeship
  • Monday to Friday for the first 24 months
  • Potential overtime and shift work in 3rd and 4th years
  • Competitive wages and great incentives

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum Year 10 completion
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic hand‑tool experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Motivation to learn and develop technical skills
  • Reliable transport and ability to live locally (If not local, relocation will be at your own expense)
