MRAEL in partnership with SWB are seeking a skilled 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice to join our team. While we value the full spectrum of fitting and turning, this role is specifically for someone who has already gained significant experience and exposure to CNC machining (lathes and/or mills. Experience with Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma or similar controls highly regarded.

SWB was established 46 years ago with their branch networks now extended to all of Australia. They have a well-developed network of trained and experienced personnel, complimented by their manufacturers’ engineering departments. With a hands-on attitude, innovative approach and commitment to work in conjunction with their customers, SWB will remain at the forefront of bearings and power transmission supply.

As an SWB Apprentice, you will be appointed an MRAEL Field Officer who will assist in guiding you through your trade, making sure every aspect of your training experience is rewarding and professional. The Field Officer provides you with consistent mentoring, support and performance management throughout your apprenticeship while ensuring you progress through your training, and will coordinate off the job training. The Field Officer will have regular meetings to discuss your progression and any challenges you may have along the way. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the set up, program and operate CNC lathes and/or milling machines to manufacture high-precision components.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, identify faults and troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime
  • Dismantling, cleaning, assessing and measuring parts 
  • Assisting with small machining jobs 
  • Cleaning of the workshop 
  • Workshop deliveries (local area) 
  • Assisting with maintaining workshop equipment
