As part of a Managed Services Provider supporting the Department of Defence, this role will see you working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver assured electromagnetic performance within complex systems and subsystems.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, Defence clients, and third-party vendors to manage EMC/EMI risks throughout the systems engineering lifecycle – from requirements and design, through to verification and compliance testing.
Responsibilities:
- Provide EMC/EMI expertise across systems engineering activities including requirements, design assurance, integration, and testing.
- Undertake EMC analysis and mitigation planning for Defence platforms or systems.
- Support the development of system architectures with EMC/EMI considerations.
- Conduct or oversee EMC testing, verification and validation (V&V) activities.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation in line with Defence standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461, DEF STANs, AS/NZS standards).
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure electromagnetic compatibility and compliance with Defence capability requirements.
- Contribute to risk assessments and the management of electromagnetic hazards (EMH).
- Liaise with certification bodies to support compliance and accreditation processes.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Active NV1 Security Clearance (essential).
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Systems Engineering).
- Demonstrated experience in EMC/EMI design, analysis, or testing in Defence or complex systems environments.
- Strong understanding of EMC/EMI compliance frameworks (e.g., MIL-STD-461, CISPR, AS/NZS).
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles, V&V, and the One Defence Capability System (ODCS).
- Excellent technical writing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working with Defence or CASG programs.
- Familiarity with Defence safety and certification processes.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., CST, ANSYS HFSS) or EMC test equipment.
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or working toward.
