About the Role
Due to our continued growth/success, we are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Process Plant environments and PV Solar Farm design. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Hazardous Area design, electrical system design and optimization, and project execution in EPC contract environments. This role is pivotal to driving the successful engineering, design, and implementation of large-scale solar projects and hybrid energy systems. This role is both office and site-based, requiring regular travel to solar farm project locations for design coordination, construction support, and commissioning activities.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the end-to-end electrical engineering design of PV solar farms and associated balance of plant systems.
- Design and develop electrical systems, including PV layouts, string configurations, and interconnection to utility grids.
- Prepare and review Hazardous Area classification, work packs, drawings and specifications in compliance with IECEx/ATEX standards.
- Develop and maintain Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), load flow studies, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and protection coordination.
- Provide technical oversight on engineering deliverables for EPC projects, ensuring adherence to project scope, cost, and timelines.
- Offer mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including NEC, IEC, IEEE, AS/NZS, and client-specific requirements.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments, hazardous area zoning, and recommend safety improvements.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines (civil, mechanical, instrumentation) and external vendors/clients.
- Provide input during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of solar and hybrid energy project.
- Prepare Scopes of Work (SoW), technical reports, and documentation to support project planning and approvals.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in electrical engineering in the energy industry, especially within Process plant, HV power systems, and generator technologies.
- Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience with solar PV systems in design, layout, and performance optimization.
- Proven experience with Hazardous Area design and classification in industrial environments.
- Proficiency with electrical software tools such as: AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PowerFactory, PSCAD (optional but beneficial).
- Knowledge of PLC systems and ability to interpret/develop PLC logic diagrams.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
