The Opportunity

Mipac is currently recruiting for a Lead Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in our office in Tucson Arizona. In this role over time you will get exposure to larger scale projects, have opportunities to travel to international locations (anywhere from Africa, Peru, and/or Canada), and a chance to enhance your technical capability through exposure to multiple control systems and diverse projects.

As a technical specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking control system investigations, analysis, design, documentation, programming, and commissioning to a high professional standard.
  • Leading projects by:
  • Managing budgeted man-hours and cost targets.
  • Ensuring work is delivered on schedule.
  • Monitoring your own work and that of others for compliance with technical and quality assurance standards.
  • Training and mentoring graduates and other engineers to:
  • Build technical capability.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures and quality standards.
  • Representing Mipac as a trusted technical expert, delivering solutions that:
  • Improve productivity, performance, and safety.
  • Maintain a focus on efficiency and profitability.
  • Evaluating new technologies and methods to explore innovative solutions for clients.
  • Collaborating in multidisciplinary project teams, drawing on diverse technical expertise.
  • Travelling to client sites (domestic and international) to:
  • Conduct site visits.
  • Liaise with clients.
  • Gather data, inspect installations, monitor manufacturing progress, and perform commissioning tasks.

What Do We Need From You?

  • Strong Rockwell and/or Emerson experience
  • System (including telemetry) and network design and programming experience, ideally in an industrial environment
  • Experience working with industrial instrumentation, including sensor selection, calibration, and integration with control systems
  • Leadership skills, including experience training and mentoring junior engineers
  • Control strategy design and implementation experience
  • On-site commissioning, fault finding, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in estimating capital and engineering man-hours
  • Ability to write clear technical reports, specifications, business correspondence, meeting minutes, and project documentation
  • Confidence in presenting technical information to clients, managers, and stakeholders
  • Ability to develop operational procedures and work instructions
  • Strong problem-solving skills in environments with limited standardisation
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions, especially when working with clients or non-technical personnel
