Early‑Career Control Systems Engineers (2–4 Years’ Experience)
Join Mipac and build your engineering career on world‑class projects
Mipac is growing, and we are looking for early‑career Control Systems Engineers who want to accelerate their development, gain global experience, and work with an industry‑leading team.
If you have around 2–4 years’ engineering experience and have spent time on a mine, mineral processing or heavy‑industry site, we want to hear from you.
This role is perfect for engineers who want hands‑on learning, technical variety, and opportunities to see their work come to life onsite.
About the role
You will gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, combining office-based engineering with onsite commissioning and travel opportunities. You will have a growth mindset and want to travel to site.
You will work with experienced engineers who will mentor and support your growth while you contribute meaningfully to projects around the world.
In this role, you will:
- Support onsite commissioning and operational activities through accompanied site travel, assisting senior engineers with troubleshooting and building confidence working in mining and processing environments.
- Contribute to control system design, performing moderate PLC/SCADA design and development tasks under guidance from senior engineers.
- Develop and review engineering deliverables including functional descriptions, alarm registers, C&E matrices, commissioning plans and test procedures, ensuring alignment with company, client and regulatory standards.
- Apply relevant Regulations, Standards, Codes of Practice and follow Mipac and client procedures in all project work.
- Work effectively within project teams, assisting with tasks under limited supervision and collaborating with colleagues, clients, vendors and other stakeholders.
- Communicate professionally, using strong written and verbal communication skills in documentation and stakeholder interactions.
You will bring:
- A degree in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
- Approximately 2–4 years' engineering experience (graduate to early intermediate level)
- Previous mine site, processing plant, or heavy‑industry exposure
- Willingness to travel internationally (e.g., roster such as 6‑weeks‑on / 2‑weeks‑off during commissioning phases)
- Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Yokogawa, or similar PLC/SCADA systems (foundational level is fine)
- Experience working on engineering projects
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in project teams
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- Any previous commissioning or shutdown experience is highly regarded
Mature‑age engineers with 1–2 years’ experience and strong site exposure are also encouraged to apply.
