As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an Electrical, Instrument and Control (EI&C) Designer & Draftsperson to join our engineering team in Brisbane. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded design drafting professional to work closely with engineers and project teams to bring complex electrical and control system designs to life. Previous experience in instrument and electrical design and control systems is essential and will be a key requirement for success in this role.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the design and delivery of instrument and electrical field design and control system projects.

You will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation that support manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and project delivery activities.

This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to a wide range of projects and technologies, with genuine opportunities for professional development and career progression within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop EI&C deliverables such as schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, loop drawings and control drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and project documentation.
  • Interpret engineering concepts, technical specifications, and client requirements to produce accurate design documentation.
  • Assist with project EI&C design and documentation solutions.
  • Review manufacturer specifications and integrate component information into project deliverables.
  • Manage drawing revisions, engineering changes, and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with Australian Standards and company engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers and commissioning teams throughout project delivery.
  • Conduct quality reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings before issue.

About You

You are a detail-oriented drafting professional who enjoys solving technical problems and producing high-quality work. You have a strong understanding of EI&C systems and are comfortable working within a collaborative engineering environment.

 Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an EI&C Designer / Draftsperson (E&I or Control Systems integration exposure advantageous)
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or recognised equivalent), or relevant electrical trade background
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD (essential), with exposure to MicroStation advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within project teams
  • Strong computer literacy and numerical skills
  • Ability to manage workload and meet project deadlines

Highly Regarded

  • Experience with design tools such as AVEVA Instrumentation, SmartPlant or DesSoft (desirable)
  • Exposure to 3D modelling tools (advantageous but not essential)
  • Exposure to Industrial automation, PLCs, or control systems.
  • On-site exposure to electrical, instrument or control system installations.
