About The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer (Power BI & Fabric) to lead the development of Micromine’s new Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE). This foundational role will establish a governed, scalable, and secure data platform, creating a single source of truth across the business. You will design and implement certified, automated, and trusted solutions, including semantic models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and governance frameworks within Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, enabling accurate and efficient reporting for strategic decision-making.
Based in Perth, you will work closely with the Head of Business Applications and internal stakeholders, providing technical leadership and strategic insight to shape Micromine’s enterprise data strategy while supporting long-term growth within the Weir Group’s global technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Platform Design: Architect and implement Micromine’s enterprise data environment, establishing bronze, silver, and gold data layers to ensure consistency, traceability, and governance.
- Semantic Model Development: Build certified Power BI semantic models with standardised terminology, measures, and Row-Level Security for scalable reporting.
- BI Governance & Lifecycle Management: Implement SDLC, deployment pipelines, UAT, and formal BI governance processes.
- Data Integration & Engineering: Develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines, integrate key systems such as NetSuite ERP and HubSpot, and optimise data storage and retrieval.
- Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with business leaders to ensure OKRs and reporting align with governed, certified data sources.
- Migration & Platform Optimisation: Lead Power BI and Microsoft 365 tenancy migration, consolidate redundant data sources, and enhance platform performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Mentorship: Partner with teams across Micromine to optimise data usage, mentor analysts, and represent the business in cross-group initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the 12–24-month data platform roadmap, researching new tools and methods to enhance the BI ecosystem.
About You:
You are a technically strong, business-oriented data professional with deep expertise in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. You thrive in creating scalable, governed data environments and translating business needs into actionable, certified data solutions.
Key Skills and Experience:
- 7+ years’ experience in data engineering, BI development, or hybrid roles.
- Proven record designing and delivering enterprise-grade Power BI solutions and semantic models.
- Expertise in Microsoft Fabric, DAX, SQL, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with ERP data extraction and modelling (NetSuite highly regarded).
- Skilled in BI governance, SDLC, change management, and data lifecycle management.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and mentorship skills.
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
