About The Opportunity

Our Americas team is currently seeking a Mining Planning Engineer based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. You will play a key support role for customers of our intuitive open-pit mine planning solution, Micromine Alastri. In this role you will be responsible for delivering high quality pre-sales and support activity, including technical product demonstrations, tenders, proof of concept model builds, software evaluation, campaigns, promotions, conferences and events etc.

Reporting directly to the Technical Services Manager- Mining, your key responsibilities will include:

• Assist the sales team by providing technical support during pre-sales demonstrations, trade shows, and other promotional events as requested
• Developing and maintaining long-term customer relationships
• Create and present strategic technical demonstrations to customers with a solution and value focus
• Provide our clients with telephone, email and face to face support
• Provide training to current and new software users. Such training may take place at a client’s site, or at a third-party venue such as a university computer laboratory
• Liaise with the product development team and software users during the software design cycle. This may involve canvassing users to determine the functionality of a new component, and then writing a design brief for the product development team
• Serve as the subject matter expert for open-pit mine scheduling for Micromine in Brazil

About You

You will have a background within operational mining roles, and/or have experience working for a mining technology company.

Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
• 7-10 years of experience with Open Pit mining
• 5-7 years of experience with mine planning and scheduling
• Experience with mine planning software
• Experience working for a software or consulting services company preferred
• The ability to travel, nationally or internationally, to manage Micromine Alastri implementations
• English (professional fluency) and Portuguese (native fluencey) language skills
