We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Airfield Operations Safety Manager to join our Aviation team.

The purpose of this role is to lead Airfield Safety functions across the Airfield Team and to influence a strong safety culture among all airfield users. The role will accountability from airfield users and ensure that airfield incident investigations are robust, timely, and that actions are delivered upon. The Airfield Operations Safety Manager will promote safety activities to drive a strong airfield culture.

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that company established process regarding Airfield Incidents Investigations are followed, foccussing on activities regulated by CASA, ATSB, or other aviation regulatory bodies. •
  • Drive accountability with ramp user organisations ensuring that investigation reports are delivered in a timely nature - with acceptable content.
  • Heavily influence ramp user organisations when investigations signal action is required.
  • Track overdue investigations and seek response – escalate when needed.
  • Lead Safety Campaigns across the airfield team and the airfield users.
  • Lead the Airfield PSI, working closely with corporate safety to ensure alignment.
  • Implement safety promotion activity based on risks.
  • Issuance of Airfield Safety Alerts.
  • Working with Corporate Safety and use safety data to trend risk areas, rather than focussing on incidents in isolation.
  • Input airfield content for reporting packages that inform weekly safety meetings, ASRC, SRC EXCO and the Airfield Safety Committee.
  • Working closely with the Airfield Optimisation Manager be involved in CI activities on the airfield based on safety trend analysis.
  • Administration of Penalty Infringement Data.
  • Work closely with all Airfield Leaders to ensure that aviation incident reporting is robust.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Safety Team, ensure an aligned approach and support the Corporate Safety Team with business wide safety initiatives, changes, approaches.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the Airfield Safety Coordinator, and support delivery of their functions.
  • Be a key member of the Airfield Leadership Team, support other Airfield Leaders in delivery of their operations.
  • Inform of changes required to safety documentation within the airfield team. Work with the Airfield Standards Manager to update.
  • Ensure all Airfield Team members are enabled to deliver best safety practices in line with company process.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Sound understanding of Airfield Operations.
  • Strong stakeholder and influencing skills
  • Sound understanding of CASA MoS 139.
  • Ability to interpret data and translate to operational effectiveness
  • A deep understanding of safety practices and Aviation SMS.
  • Qualification in incident investigations. i.e. ICAM
  • Proven experience in delivering positive safety change
  • Strong execution of action and change activities.
  • Experience in auditing front line operations and operational functions is desirable
  • Knowledge of Ground Handler Operation preferred
  • Airside Drivers Authority License
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Strong decision making abilities
