This position will support Head of Security in the management of Security technology assets including their compliance, procurement, maintenance service contracts, resilience plans, supplier relationships, software optimisation and upgrades, connectivity, and provide subject matter expertise to all projects and stakeholders.

The position will also work within the Access Control and CCTV upgrade projects to ensure the cutover to a new enterprise solution is a seamless process and security risks are mitigated. The role will be responsible for all security technology knowledge, systems and integration in-line with Melbourne Airport's corporate strategy. 

It will provide security leadership both for Melbourne Airport and its customer base and champion the security culture. The position will assist in the preparation of proposals, budgets and financial management documents, and support business cases/plans designed to realise security enhancements for screening equipment, Access control and CCTV, and automated identity and document verification.

This role will also support the ‘day of operations’ with a strong emphasis on stakeholder management, service levels, crisis management, and management of associated security compliance requirements.

We are also approaching a period of world-leading trials of security technology in conjunction with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Open Architecture (OA) solution providers. This role will be at the forefront of innovation, trials, and collaboration with the suppliers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of service maintenance contracts for security equipment suppliers including: invoice assurance, KPI and financial abatements, budget and Airline agreement cost allocations, and general performance.
  • Development of security technology service maintenance contracts including to ensure: day of operations is supported through agreed service levels, value for the airport and airlines is achieved, and all operational risks are considered.
  • Ensure all equipment is operating compliant with Aviation Transport Security Regulations and associated Dept. Of Home Affairs/CISC notices.
  • Assure the security of the physical cutover of access control system project and its optimised integration with CCTV and other operating systems.
  • Ensure all security equipment is Safe to operate
  • Support Crisis team and projects and design with Security technology subject matter expertise
  • Deliver security technology innovation trials in AI/ML and OA and in collaboration with OEMs and APAM ICT. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Aviation, Security, engineering, information technology, or relevant industry experience prefferred. 
  • Solid experience in the field of aviation, security, operations, or technology.
  • Experience in managing multiple supplier contracts, measuring performance against KPIs, and driving performance, and managing supplier costs.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and implementing relevant aviation legislation and regulations or other similar legislation.
  • Demonstrated decision making capability to meet operational priorities and budgets. 
  • Effective communication skills, with demonstrated ability to develop written and verbal briefs for equipment funding, projects, the government security regulator, and supplier management.
