  • Shape major infrastructure investment and long-term asset strategy at Melbourne Airport
  • Drive data-led capital planning across complex, critical airport assets
  • Be part of a major growth phase driving large-scale infrastructure outcomes

Shape the long-term performance of Melbourne Airport’s assets through data-driven strategy and capital planning.

Melbourne Airport is entering a significant phase of growth and transformation, with major infrastructure investment shaping the future of how we operate. As part of this, we’re looking for an Asset Strategy Manager to play a key role in lifting how we plan, manage and optimise our asset base.

This is a strategic role sitting within our Asset Management function, focused on driving long-term asset performance, renewal planning and capital optimisation across a complex and diverse infrastructure environment.

You’ll lead the development and ongoing refinement of asset class strategies across a broad portfolio, from airfield infrastructure and aerobridges through to HVAC, vertical transport and critical safety systems. You’ll use data, modelling and strong judgement to inform long-term capital planning, ensuring we’re making the right investment decisions at the right time.

Explore how we are thinking big with exciting projects like the Third Runway, state-of-the-art terminals, and thriving business park developments. You can also learn more about life at Melbourne Airport – our culture, values, and what makes us unique at https://www.melbourneairport.com.au/corporate/our-culture-and-values. Join us in shaping the future of aviation as we propel Melbourne Airport towards becoming Australia's favourite Airport destination.

What you’ll be doing

Asset strategy and planning

  • Develop and maintain asset class strategies across airport and business park infrastructure
  • Define performance standards, intervention points and lifecycle renewal profiles
  • Translate operational needs and master planning inputs into clear, evidence-based strategies

Lifecycle and investment optimisation

  • Lead long-term asset renewal modelling to inform the corporate capital model
  • Develop optimised capital and maintenance plans aligned to safety, service levels and growth
  • Support prioritisation of capital works through options analysis and business case inputs

Data and systems

  • Define asset data requirements to support better decision making
  • Improve asset performance metrics and reporting quality
  • Work closely with systems teams to ensure asset registers, condition data and risk insights are fit for purpose
  • Use analytics to identify trends, risks and optimisation opportunities

Continuous improvement and governance

  • Establish and refine asset strategy frameworks and governance approaches
  • Support alignment to ISO55001 asset management principles
  • Uplift capability across the Asset Management team through coaching and influence

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in asset management or infrastructure strategy, ideally within airports, transport, utilities or other regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of lifecycle asset management, risk-based planning and capital optimisation
  • Solid capability in data analysis, particularly in the context of asset performance and reliability
  • Experience working with asset systems and ideally GIS platforms (D365 exposure a plus)
  • Confidence influencing stakeholders and working across teams to drive better outcomes
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment where data isn’t always perfect
  • An engineering background is preferred, but not essential.

We understand that not everyone will feel they meet all of these 100%. However, if you feel you have the attitude and aptitude to grow within our team, we invite you to apply and have a conversation with us about this position.
