We are currently recruiting an Airfield Operations Lead to join the Aviation team. This newly created role will support the Airfield Operations Manager and wider Airfield Safety Officer (ASO) team in the delivery of airfield operational functions, while promoting a strong ‘all of airfield’ safety culture and ensuring accountability and adherence to airfield operational policies from all airfield users. The Airfield Operations Lead will work collaboratively with ground handlers and other ramp users to ensure efficient operations. The role supports the growing demand for airfield works and act as the ASO technical expert to inform and guide the right operational changes. In addition, the role will support safety activities by ensuring a risk-based approach to all airfield operations
Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Upkeep of ASO skillsets (Predominately using Airside Tracker)
- ASO Team performance as a whole, and work actively with Airfield Operations Manager to measure/ improve/reward efforts.
- Ensure that quality of reporting is high, and acted on.
- Follow up with Ramp users where ASO actions have not met the required outcome
- Use data and other intel, ensure that ASOs tasks and focus areas are matched to current risks on the airfield.
On site Compliance of Airfield users
- Regular Auditing of GSE parking
- Ensuring user adherence to Airfield Safety and operational policies.
- Lead ongoing removal of defective GSE.
- Auditing of ASO turnaround audits and GSE checks.
- Active involvement in GHA behaviour changes
- Inform internal departments of issues that need their support to resolve, i.e cleaning, tenant leasing.
- Always driving stronger relationship between airfield users to support a stronger airfield culture
- Support, and at times lead airfield safety culture activities.
ASO Expertise input to Airfield Project Works
- Be the ASO SME involved in airfield project work, including design reviews.
- Build ASO specific SOPs based on project changes, or implementations.
- Support Car 2 and ASO teams with briefings of ASO actions during project works
- Solve issues on the day with projects that involve ASO/ Car 2 input.
The successful candidate will have:
- Sound understanding of Airfield Operations.
- Sound understanding of Ground Handler Activities and processes
- Strong stakeholder and influencing skills
- Sound understanding of CASA MoS Part 139.
- Ability to interpret data and translate to operational effectiveness
- Desirable – demonstrated competence as an ASO or SASO
- Ability to interpret data and translate to operational effectiveness
