Melbourne Airport is entering a significant phase of growth, with an expanded capital investment program that will shape the future of aviation in Victoria. To support this, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Deputy Treasurer to join our high-performing Finance team.
This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in the execution of Melbourne Airport’s financing strategy, ensuring the organisation is market-ready to fund its ambitious growth agenda.
The Role
Reporting to the Treasurer, the Deputy Treasurer is a senior leadership role responsible for:
- Leading APAC’s funding strategy and execution, including debt management and refinancing activities.
- Building and managing relationships with banks, ratings agencies, debt investors, and internal senior stakeholders.
- Preparing high-quality Board papers, investor materials, and governance reporting.
- Overseeing financial risk management, liquidity, and long-term planning.
- Coaching and developing the Treasury team, fostering a culture of capability and collaboration.
You will play a key role in maintaining APAC’s credit ratings, ensuring strong investor engagement, and upholding Treasury policy and governance requirements. This role offers both strategic influence and hands-on execution in a complex, dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Debt Management: Lead the development and execution of debt strategies, refinancing recommendations, investor presentations, deal execution, and program documentation (AMTN, EMTN, USPP, bank debt).
- Credit Rating Management: Act as APAC’s subject matter expert on credit rating methodology, prepare collateral for rating agency meetings, and embed insights into corporate planning.
- Investor Relations: Lead investor engagement, including roadshow preparation, investor updates, and stakeholder communications.
- Financial Analysis & Modelling: Own and enhance long-term corporate and treasury models, scenario analysis, and Board-level forecasting.
- Financial Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks, develop and execute hedging strategies, and oversee policy and compliance.
- Treasury Operations: Oversee treasury systems, settlements, cashflow forecasts, and treasury procedures.
- Leadership: Provide coaching, set goals, and develop a high-performing team aligned with APAC’s corporate strategy.
The successful candidate will have:
- Leadership-level experience in a Corporate Treasury team or Debt Advisory role.
- Degree in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting, with CA/CPA/CFA qualifications preferred. Membership of ACTA (FTA) highly regarded.
- Deep execution experience across global funding markets and debt programs.
- Strong expertise in hedge accounting, interest rate risk management, and credit rating methodologies.
- Proven ability to influence at senior levels, backed by exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Advanced financial modelling and analysis capability, with outstanding attention to detail.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth environment.
