We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Community Engagement Coordinator to join our Public Affairs team.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping Melbourne Airport’s future by delivering strategic engagement initiatives that build trust and transparency with stakeholders. This position drives meaningful participation in the Public Exhibition period for the Master Plan 2027 and the Eastern Extension Project (EEP), ensuring every voice is heard and considered. By supporting the team to plan and implement engagement activities that comply with the Airports Act 1996, the role will create high-quality outcomes that strengthen Melbourne Airport’s reputation as a community-focused leader. Your work will directly impact how communities, regulators, and industry partners engage with transformative infrastructure projects, ensuring clarity, confidence, and collaboration throughout the process.

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement engagement strategies for major projects (Master Plan 2027, EEP).
  • Coordinate logistics for forums, pop-ups, and online engagement platforms.
  • Contribute to the preparation of a communications toolkit (FAQs, fact sheets, digital assets) for events
  • Participate at all events including forums and pop-ups, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • Deliver consultation summary reports and recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple priorities.
  • Manage stakeholder mapping and maintain accurate record input into the stakeholder relationship management system, ensuring evidence of engagement activity and response to community feedback is documented and reportable for compliance with aviation regulations.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or related field.
  • Ability to work some out of hours work and occasional weekends ( time in lieu)
  • Ability to manage integrated delivery (digital and face-to-face).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Qualifications in community engagement, public affairs, social impact, communications or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in a similar role and understanding of engagement practices under the IAP2 standard.
  • Experience in infrastructure engagement and statutory consultation is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of planning frameworks and legislative compliance is desirable.
