We currently have an exciting new opportunity for an agile and proficient M3R Design Manager to join our M3R team.
As a part of the Design and Construct (D&C Team), this role reports to the M3R Delivery Director who has overall responsibility for design and construction activities. The M3R Design Manager will lead the team in terms of supporting the Contractor’s design process from concept through to IFC status. The role will maintain the working interface with the M3R Principal’s Technical Advisors. The critical outcomes for this role are timely, accurate and compliant design approvals, so that the D&C contract requirements and broader airport specifications and technical requirements are met while supporting the program and progress of the project

Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the Director Delivery and Contractor’s design management team to ensure an understanding and accepting of the design elements and packaging arrangements.
- Attend or chair ongoing design management meetings with the Contractor, keeping schedules and records of all activity and progress, key issues and overall schedule performance.
- Manage design packages – both temporary and permanent works – through the design review and approval process. This will include managing the need for advice and analysis by the M3R Technical Advisor consultants.
- Liaise with external approvers such as Activity Based Costing (ABC) or APAM Operations staff to ensure timely and appropriate approvals are achieved.
- Provide reporting data for the project, including flagging key issues, departures or delays in approvals, and leading the analysis of any design change proposals.
- Ensure timely response to all Contractor raised issues such as Request for Information (RFIs), design change requests, Non-Conformance Issue/Reports (NCRs) and other change processes.
- Support the document control process via the document collaboration systems.
- Guide the use and application of digital engineering systems on the project.
- Liaise with Operations staff and others in relation to completions, defect management, certification and issue close out.
The successful candidate will have:
- A background in aviation and airport design and technical requirements would be a strong preference.
- Experience in project life cycle Design Management roles in major civil infrastructure projects, including working on site in a project office.
- A strong understanding of all key design principles and requirements in earthworks, geotechnical, pavements and airfield lighting, navigation and power/communications systems.
- Knowledge of the requirements of applicable Australian Standards, and regulatory requirements, as they relate to infrastructure projects.
- Experience in working in document collaboration systems, and a good understanding of key Digital Engineering processes and platforms (GIS, BIM, 4D and similar).
