We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Finance Business Partner to join our Aviation team.
The Finance Business Partner, Aviation role is accountable for providing expert financial support to the Aviation team, through the provision of accurate and insightful financial analysis. The role will assist the Aviation team by providing high quality advice founded on sound commercial thinking. The Finance Business Partner will be a trusted advisor to the Head of Commercial & Finance, Aviation and Chief of Aviation on financial performance and forecasting.

Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Business Partnering and Monthly Reporting
- Demonstrated trusted financial advisor with strong relationships within Aviation, Finance, FP&A and across the business
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of all aspects of the operating costs and revenues within Aviation, including inter-relationships between revenue streams and underlying drivers
- Responsible for the approval of monthly billing, including the review of movements and charges
- Provide accurate and timely month-end reports to internal stakeholders – including Head of Commercial & Finance, Aviation, Chief of Aviation, CEO, CFO, and Head of Financial Reporting and Control – providing insightful commentary enabling a clear view of business performance
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Responsible for the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for the whole Aviation portfolio, engaging with all budget owners, the Aviation Leadership Team and the Chief of Aviation
- Maintain forward looking forecasts of expected performance, including identification of dependencies, risks and opportunities
- Responsible for Long Term Model (LTM) assumptions and inputs relevant to Aviation, including aero asset base, pricing, contract opex allocations and incentives, as well as review of the outputs for accuracy and alignment with internal budgets
- Support the Head of Commercial and Finance, Aviation and Commercial Finance Manager with review of Aviation and contract allocations (ASA, Terminals 1-4) and preparation of LTM, Board and Analyst presentations
Security Recoveries
- Responsible for the security recovery budgeting, forecasting and reporting process, including delivering high quality analysis across the various security cateogories, terminals and airlines
- Accountable for ensuring the Security Recoveries process is complete on a monthly basis, with the monthly reconciliation of terminal recoveries against the D365 ledge
- Produce quarterly and annual security reporting for airlines, detailing and commentating on performance against budget and KPIs
- Manage all external audit requirements for APAM securities (APAM Statutory Accounts and ACCC Regulatory Accounts)
Commercial
- Responsible for the preparation of quarterly reporting requirements under the T1 TOL, with accompanying analysis and commentary, and managing any airline queries for supplementary information required
- Responsible for the preparation of TOL budgets and forecasts (capital and operational costs) and the agreement of these with Qantas as required under the TOL
- Support the Aviation Commercial team with reporting requirements, including internal aeronautical contract performance reporting versus expectations
- Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of airline incentives and any reporting requirements for the Aviation Business Development team
- Support the Aviation Commercial team with any airline correspondence as required, including price changes and the calculation of rebates.
- Strong working relationship with the Head of Commercial Aviation, Head of Business Development, Senior Manager Commercial Services, PMO, Head of Finance & Commercial Infrastructure
Capital Investment Business Cases
- Responsible for the review of financial outcomes for investment business cases, including providing analytical support to the development of returns metrics, whether covered by aeronautical agreements, commercial agreements etc.
- Provides expert analytical advice, testing business case assumptions to ensure accuracy and completeness; this includes running sensitivities on underlying key assumptions, responsible for assessing the impact to existing assets, and ensuring resulting operating costs & benefits are accurately captured in the business case cash flows.
- Work to influence stakeholders through clear explanations of assumption and results, educating and coaching the business in best practice business case methods
People Leadership
- Manage and report on team performance, set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these objectives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Provide mentorship and guidance to develop skills and capabilities of team members
- Work collaboratively across the business to engage, lead and influence commercial outcomes to achieve team and individual objectives.
The successful candidate will have:
- CA/CPA qualified
- Strong knowledge of accounting practices, standards and methodologies;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders at all levels
- Highly analytically and technically competent, with experience in reporting, forecasting and reviewing the quality and accuracy of data
- Strong data manipulation and software skills including the use of Excel and Powerpoint
- Proven senior finance experience (7+ years) in a large corporate environment preferably in infrastructure or a capital intensive sector.
- High level of attention to detail
- Able to present financials and insights in an accurate, compelling and succinct manner
- Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and with ease
- Experience and skill in prioritising and managing multiple projects/task
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritise own efforts on multiple simultaneous projects
- Strong financial acumen, commercially focused
