Financial Accountant
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant who is passionate about delivering quality month-end transactional accounting and reporting. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for communicating with business units across Australia Pacific Airport Corporation (APAC) to coordinate information, investigate data and assumptions in order to understand the reasons for variances and provide accurate monthly commentary for reporting purposes.

Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Transactional Accounting & Month-end
- Prepare balance sheet and reconciliations to audit quality level.
- Prepare accurate monthly journals to ensure monthly results are produced in an accurate and timely manner for review by the Senior Financial Accountant /Group Financial Controller.
- Ensure transactions are processed in line with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Account for recharges including security, utilities and outgoings.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register (‘FAR’) including accounting for acquisitions/ additions and depreciation.
- Maintain the credit card processing system and oversee the timely reconciliation of credit cards, ensuring any discrepancies are followed up and resolved in a timely manner: ensure banking reconciles daily.
Financials and Statutory Reporting
- Assist in internal and external audit requests, as required.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly Board pack.
- Assist in the documentation of half yearly and year-end stewardship process.
- Assist with the preparation of the APAC group’s statutory financial statements, including obligations with ACCC, ASIC, and lending agreements.
Treasury back office
- Assist and support treasury back office operation.
- Preparation of interest and debt payment packs.
- Preparation of interest and treasury expense accruals.
- Maintenance of borrowing cost schedules.
- Assist in treasury (covenant) reporting and stewardship process.
Operational Effectiveness
- Support and assist business units with any queries regarding accounting systems.
- Ensure the maintenance and integrity of accounting systems.
- Assist with the development of instructional manuals and communicate and train relevant managers and team members in new or revised accounting processes related to their department/business.
- Provide financial advice by considering operational issues, applying financial principles and practices and developing recommendations for review.
- Maintain financial calendar and ensure milestones are met.
- Support the Finance team in resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Maintains knowledge by staying current with financial regulations and accepted practices, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and maintaining personal networks.
- Comply with APAC’s policies and procedures and contribute to making APAC a positive and pleasant place to work.
The successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or similar.
- Chartered Accountant, i.e. CPA or CA qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
