As we continue to expand and deliver significant capital works across our precinct, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Manager to lead quality strategy and governance across our major projects and facilities maintenance portfolio.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring every asset we build and maintain meets the highest technical, regulatory and contractual standards, while embedding a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities:
Quality Strategy and Governance
- Develop and execute Melbourne Airport’s Quality Management Strategy aligned to organisational objectives and ISO 9001 standards
- Provide governance oversight of quality systems, procedures and performance metrics across capital and maintenance programs
- Lead management reviews of the Quality Management System, ensuring alignment with regulatory and legislative frameworks including CASA, ICAO and AS/NZS standards
- Act as the primary quality liaison to executive leadership, contractors and regulators
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and mentor the Clerk of Works function
- Set clear performance standards and oversee resource allocation across sites
- Foster a collaborative, accountable and high-performing quality culture
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Oversee quality management plans, inspection and test plans and project-specific documentation
- Lead internal and external audits, supplier evaluations and third-party inspections
- Ensure compliance with building codes, aviation safety standards and contractual requirements
- Manage corporate risk and issue registers, driving corrective and preventative actions through to closure
Continuous Improvement and Reporting
- Lead root cause analysis and drive initiatives that reduce rework and improve performance
- Deliver detailed quality reporting, KPIs and trend analysis for executive review
- Champion digital quality tools and data-driven decision-making
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with project directors, engineering leads and contractors to align on quality outcomes
- Represent Melbourne Airport in external audits and forums
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders on compliance risks and emerging best practice
The successful candidate will have:
You are a strategic quality leader with deep experience in complex infrastructure environments. Bringing strong systems thinking, commercial awareness and the ability to influence across all levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Systems or a related discipline
- Deep experience in quality management, including in a senior leadership role
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 frameworks
- Strong regulatory and standards knowledge from an infrastructure perspective
- Proven capability leading cross-functional teams and managing complex stakeholder environments
- Advanced analytical and reporting capability, with experience using quality data and audit systems
