We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Project Coordinator - Infrastructure to join our Planning, Infrastructure & Environment team at Melbourne Airport.

From airfield and landside infrastructure to terminal precinct upgrades, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of Melbourne Airport.

Working closely with the Program Director – Infrastructure Delivery, various internal stakeholders, external partners, and subject matter experts you will be pivotal in capturing, distilling, and developing the Capital Plan across a variety of asset classes. Helping to ensure projects are developed on time, with appropriate engagement, and budgets established.

Key responsibilities

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Capturing the pipeline of a diverse portfolio of civil, building, and airfield capital works across one of Australia’s most complex and operationally active infrastructure environments.
  • Assisting in developing the plan to deliver these works to ensure timely approvals for broader team success.
  • Expediting the impact of the team through efficient capital funding.
  • Communicating our progress against the plan, to celebrate the big and small wins, while ensuring all stakeholders are informed about progress of scope relevant to their subject matter.
  • Working with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, you will assist, and where appropriate lead the following:
  • Capital Planning – Capture, development and communication of relevant asset class capital plan data to ensure adequate provision of capital for the right projects at the right time.
  • Capital Funding – Development of capital funding business cases for approval of internal stakeholders to ensure capital funds are available and delivery targets and programs are maintained. Funding requests will include business unit, executive, and Board level requests.
  • Capital Program Reporting – Capture, and disseminate relevant progress updates, and key issues.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary internal and external project teams, including consultants and contractors, to identify key safety, schedule, cost and risk report updates.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction, project management, planning or a related built environment discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8+ years’ experience managing project coordination, and interfaces on capital projects within complex. Preferably within operational environments such as airports, infrastructure, utilities or large public precincts.
  • Experience in end-to-end project lifecycle, including design development, procurement and construction delivery preferred.
  • Commercial acumen, including cost planning, contract negotiation and procurement strategy preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence internal and external partners.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear relevant summaries, and updates.
