We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic Communications Advisor, Noise Amelioration Program, to join our Media and Communications team.

This role will support the successful delivery of the Noise Amelioration Program by ensuring communication to participants, community, government, media and other stakeholders is accurate, authentic and accessible- and importantly consistent. To ensure messaging cohesion, the role will report to the Third Runway Communications Manager and will work closely with the Third Runway Community Engagement team, Noise Amelioration Program team and broader Media and Communications team.

Liaising closely with the delivery team, community engagement specialists, local media, residents and local community groups, you'll play a vital role in providing accurate, authentic and accessible information and updates on this important project.

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage media enquiries by drafting timely, high-quality responses and liaising with journalists about the Noise Amelioration Program
  • Develop content including speeches and briefing notes for senior leaders and internal communications
  • Develop content to help inform community about project milestones, consultation opportunities and project delivery
  • Support community engagement team with delivery of public events
  • Provide support to the business in crisis management situations
  • Work with digital team to draft and create engaging social media posts, manage social media interactions, build and maintain website content

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Communications or Journalism
  • Demonstrated experience in writing clear, concise copy for media or customer-facing organisation
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure as part of a team and with a range of internal/external stakeholders
  • An ability to work both proactively and reactively and to make recommendations on appropriate courses of action to ensure timely and appropriate resolution
  • Ability to assess risk and provide strategic communications advice
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Thorough understanding of the evolving digital landscape- and opportunities this presents for Melbourne Airport
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Strong understanding of media and digital landscape, social media and opportunities for communication
  • Proven ability to learn technically complex material, then distil and express appropriately for a range of recipients
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience working in issues-rich environments
  • Experience developing communications to reach broad and diverse audiences
