Domestic Services Assistant

Mansfield District Hospital

At Mansfield District Hospital, we know exceptional care starts with a safe, clean and welcoming environment. Our Domestic Services team plays a vital role in protecting patients, residents, staff and visitors every single day — and we’re looking for someone who takes pride in doing the job properly.

If you’re detail-driven, reliable, and understand that cleanliness in healthcare is about more than appearances, this could be the role for you.

About the Role

As a Domestic Services Assistant, you’ll provide high-quality cleaning services across our health service in line with AS/NZ cleaning standards and infection control requirements. This role goes beyond routine cleaning — you’ll directly support patient safety by maintaining strict hygiene standards and contributing to our compliance with national quality frameworks.

Reporting to the Domestic and Food Services Manager, you’ll be part of a supportive, team-focused environment where your work truly matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • General and detailed cleaning across clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Infectious and isolation cleans in accordance with infection control protocols
  • Window cleaning, wall washing and vent cleaning
  • Vacuuming, mopping, sweeping and damp dusting
  • Carpet shampooing
  • Managing linen processes (ordering, removal of soiled linen, packing and restocking)
  • Maintaining outside entrances and shared spaces
  • Participating in audits and quality improvement activities
  • Attending team meetings and contributing to a positive workplace culture

You’ll also maintain a working knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and Aged Care Quality Standards relevant to your role.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Has a solid understanding of cleaning standards and safe work practices
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Is punctual, dependable and flexible with shifts
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Aligns with our organisational values and commitment to quality care

Essential Requirements:

  • Current full Driver’s Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Evidence of current Flu vaccination

Desirable:

  • Previous hospital or healthcare cleaning experience
