RESTART - Alcohol and Other Drugs Clinical

Team: Community Health | Location: Mansfield | Status: Permanent Part-Time (0.5eft - 0.9eft)

🏥 About the role

Working as part of the Primary Care Centre team, this position is responsible for collaborating both independently and within the Mansfield Restart team. The Mansfield Restart program is a community-based rehabilitation and support service that assists individuals, their families, and social supports in managing addiction and substance use. Restart serves the local Mansfield community and surrounding areas, with some travel required to deliver services.

✅ Key Responsibilities

The role responsibilities of RESTART – Alcohol and other Drugs Clinician includes but not limited to;

  • Collaborate with the Restart Coordinator and team to deliver alcohol and drug services focused on community rehabilitation, treatment, and prevention using a person-centred, coordinated care approach.
  • Foster client participation through a two-way, respectful approach to support successful health outcomes within scope of practice.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic partnerships with clients, caregivers, and families, supporting their involvement in care decisions while respecting individual needs and cultural considerations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, groups, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Record all assessments, interventions, and evaluations accurately in client files.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Collect and submit data and present case studies as directed by the Restart Coordinator.

📝 Key Selection Criteria Summary

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services, especially in rural communities.
  • Experience working autonomously with clients in mental health, AOD, or related fields.
  • Proficient in electronic communication and software systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and national standards.
  • Experience in project planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Commitment to organisational values and effective written/verbal communication.
  • Evidence of required flu vaccinations.
  • Completion or progress towards core competencies in Community Services Training (AOD) as per Victorian standards.

Desirable:

  • Experience with UNITI and awareness of rural community service challenges.
  • COVID-19 vaccination recommended according to ATAGI guidelines.
