About the role

Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team. Reporting directly to our Financial Controller, this role will:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including QBCC regulations, PQC compliance, and tax legislation.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making at all levels of the business.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, auditors, and external regulatory bodies.
  • Review and improve internal financial controls and processes to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.
  • Provide tax planning and management, including developing tax strategies to optimize the group’s tax position and ensure compliance with all tax laws.
  • Play a key role in managing corporate tax returns and ensure timely submission.
  • Provide advice on tax implications of business transactions, including M&A, capital expenditures, and other significant events.
  • Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure the company maximizes available tax credits, deductions, and other opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other finance team members.
  • Play a key role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of McNab as we continue to expand and diversify our portfolio.
  • Monitor and report banking covenants, ensuring compliance and timely reporting to financial institutions
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial packs for tender submissions and other ad-hoc financial requests

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and CPA or CA qualification.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a financial accounting role, with a blend of public practice and industry experience, ideally in construction or related sectors.
  • Proven experience with Australian Accounting Standards, tax compliance, financial reporting, and tax planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a clear, concise manner.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws and strategies, including corporate tax management
