If you’re a trade-qualified carpenter who takes pride in your work and wants steady, long-term employment, join McNab — a team that backs its people and builds with purpose.

Based in Toowoomba, you’ll enjoy the stability of permanent, ongoing work on a range of commercial, industrial, and residential projects in and around the region — with the support of an experienced, down-to-earth team who take pride in doing things safely and well.

From multi-residential to industrial and social housing builds, there’s always something new and rewarding to get involved in.

At McNab, we offer career pathways for those wanting to progress in construction — many of our senior leaders started on the tools as carpenters and worked their way up to become Foremen, Site Managers, Project Managers, and Construction Managers.

Duties:

You’ll carry out a variety of formwork and general carpentry tasks across different project types — no two sites are the same!

Key duties include:

  • Steel and timber framing
  • Formwork and concreting for slabs, footings, and walls
  • Installation of cladding, flooring, and structural elements
  • Commercial and residential fit-outs
  • Maintenance and defect work

You’ll also:

  • Work with steel, concrete, and timber
  • Read and interpret plans and drawings
  • Operate tools and equipment safely
  • Follow all site safety procedures
  • Work effectively in a team and adapt to changing site environments

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experienced Carpenters (formwork experience an advantage but not essential)
  • Safety-focused and detail-oriented
  • Motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Professional and team-oriented
  • Capable of working unsupervised when required
  • Eager to grow and progress your career
  • Trade Qualification in Carpentry
  • Construction White Card (or ability to obtain)
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport (travel across Toowoomba and SEQ as required)

In Return:

  • Competitive hourly rate with consistent full-time hours and overtime opportunities
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Opportunities to gain more tickets and broaden your trade experience
  • Daily Travel Allowance (paid regardless of work location)
  • Tool Allowance: Up to $2,000 per financial year (reimbursed with receipts for standard trade tools)
  • PPE Allowance: $500 per financial year (reimbursed with receipts for standard PPE)
  • Health & Fitness Subsidy: $250 per year (toward gym, activewear, saunas, fishing gear, etc.)
  • Birthday Leave: 1 paid day off in addition to 4 weeks’ annual leave and 10 days’ sick leave
  • Banked Hours: Any hours worked beyond 38 in a week may be banked to take as paid leave or paid out later
  • Paid Travel Time: For work on sites more than 40km from your base McNab office
  • Support and systems that make it easy to do your best work — and go home safe every day
