About the role

We are seeking an Architectural Metalwork Draftsperson to join our Supplyhaus Facades team as we expand and grow. This role plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering high-quality architectural metalwork solutions for a range of projects.

This role will be responsible for producing accurate 2D/3D concept drawings and shop drawings for architectural metalwork elements. Typical scope of aluminium product includes: Balustrades (including stair balustrades), unitized perforated carpark screens, batten screens, sunhoods and sunblades, louvres, custom storage lockers, custom trellis, and custom cladding panels.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop 2D/3D concept drawings of all aluminium metalwork package scope items from architectural drawings for client presentations and engineering approval.
  • Produce General Arrangement (GA) and shop drawings for all aluminium metalwork package scope items.
  • Establish scope, engage with and manage third party structural engineers for your projects.
  • Identify product requiring site measurement (eg staircase balustrade) and manage the process to incorporate measurements in a timely manner.
  • Review and perform quality control on external fabrication drawings to ensure they align with shop drawings and project specifications.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy through detailed fabrication audits and play a key role in identifying and solving design challenges before they reach fabrication.
  • Communicate closely with Façade team, drafters, design coordinators, Project Managers & project coordinators to ensure smooth project execution.

Ideally, you will possess the following:

  • Expert product knowledge including a solid understanding of current industry fabrication and installation methods.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is essential for this role.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and collaborate effectively with team members to ensure project key project milestones are met.
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards such as AS1170.1 and AS1428.1.
  • A technical mindset with a solution-driven approach to design challenges.
  • A keen eye for accuracy and detail, with the ability to catch errors before they reach fabrication, ensuring the highest quality output.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A desire to contribute to the team and grow within a fast-paced environment.
