Mas Careers & Mentoring Specialists provide advice to prospective Australian Apprentices and support to
active Australian Apprentices. Mas Careers & Mentoring Specialists work with individuals to overcome
workplace and personal barriers that may impact employment & training.
The role has two key areas of focus. The primary focus of the position is to mentor key client groups including
first nations, those living with a disability, women in trade and rural/regional Australian Apprentices. In addition,
Mas Careers & Mentoring Specialists will provide careers advice and support to prospective Australian
Apprentices.
Mas Careers & Mentoring Specialists will deliver services both in person and using virtual electronic means.
Careers Advice
• Provide one on one career advice to prospective Australian Apprentices, job seekers and Mas
Allied Health clients.
• Create linkages with community organisations, Workforce Australia providers and RTOs to
provide career advice to their clients.
• Attend career expos and events to promote VET.
• Develop and deliver school engagement activities to promote VET.
Mentoring
• Assist active Australian Apprentices to break down barriers to successful completion.
• Manage a mentoring caseload of Australian Apprentices.
• Complete contact visits for Australian Apprentices in Key Priority Cohorts as per business needs.
• Develop rapport and trust with Australian Apprentices by regularly communicating through face to
face and/or visual electronic means.
• Work with Australian Apprentices to develop strategies to reduce or eliminate barriers to
continued employment and assist the Australian Apprentice to remain engaged.
• Support Australian Apprentices to work effectively in a workplace, remain goal focused;
understand the importance of off-the-job training.
• Deliver current and tailored career advice utilising Mas’ careers and mentoring platform.
• Ensure all work is carried out professionally and in accordance with the Australian Apprenticeship
Support Services guidelines.
• Ensure all compliance requirements are met as per the Australian Apprentice Support Service
guidelines.
• Ensure KPIs are met based on business needs.
