Traineeship - Work Health and Safety

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is seeking a motivated individual to join their team as a Work Health & Safety Trainee. This two-year, full-time traineeship is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while completing a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

Position Details:

• Employment Type: Temporary Full Time, 2 years
• Grade: Trainee
• Qualification: Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
• Remuneration: From $522.30 per week for Year 12 school leavers, plus employer superannuation contributions and annual leave loading
• Primary Location: 1 Amarina Place, Greenacre NSW 2190
• Working Days: Monday to Friday
• Commencement: November 2026
• Work Locations: While Greenacre will be the primary location, the successful candidate must be willing to rotate through various FRNSW work locations as required.

About the Role:

As a Work Health & Safety Trainee, the successful candidate will participate in a structured traineeship program designed to develop practical knowledge, skills and experience in work health and safety.

Through a combination of formal training and supervised workplace learning, the trainee will support routine administrative and operational activities within Fleet Management while working towards their nationally recognised qualification.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Foundational written, verbal and digital communication skills, with a willingness to further develop these through training and workplace experience
• The ability to follow procedures, maintain accurate records and escalate matters appropriately
• The ability to use common workplace technology or a willingness to develop these skills through training and support
• Good organisational skills and the ability to complete assigned work and respond to routine requests within agreed timeframes
• A positive attitude towards learning and professional development

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have completed Year 12, the Higher School Certificate or an equivalent qualification
• Be willing to undertake structured training and work full time for the duration of the traineeship
• Comply with the responsibilities associated with the Trainee Training Contract between FRNSW, NSW State Training, the Registered Training Organisation (RTO), the Apprenticeship Centre and the individual
• Successfully work towards completing a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
• Be willing to rotate through various FRNSW work locations when required
