MacKillop’s schools are part of the catholic education system, and we collaborate closely with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. As part of this education system, leaders and teachers, working in a catholic school are required to gain accreditation to teach in a Catholic school. This role will support relevant staff to gain this level of accreditation.


This position will lead and teach across the four Victorian campuses of MacKillop Education.

About the role:

This role will be responsible, in collaboration with senior leaders, for nurturing the faith and spirituality of our students, families and staff, through dialogue, learning and reflection.

As a multi-faith community, we also recognize that some families and staff do not identify with any faith tradition; however, they have a strong spirituality that they seek to nourish and deepen. Therefore, this role will contribute to building a school community that is safe, respectful and inclusive and where the value and dignity of each person is recognized and celebrated.

  • Develop curriculum and resources to deepen students’ knowledge and understanding of the catholic tradition, including MacKillop’s founders
  • Deepen staff knowledge and understanding of the catholic tradition, including MacKillop’s founders, through dialogue, professional learning and reflection
  • Deepen student and staff knowledge and understanding of other world religions through an incursion and excursion program

 

This is an ongoing part-time job share opportunity (22.8 hours per week) based in Clifton Hill, VIC within MacKillop Education. The position reports to the Director of Education.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A four-year teaching qualification or equivalent and eligibility for Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
  • A qualification in theology or spirituality and/or experience teaching in this field of study.
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
  • An understanding and commitment to the values and objectives of the organisation and a capacity to represent MacKillop, as required by the role.

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
