About the Role:

The Case Worker plays a key role in delivering high quality, trauma informed case work services to young people in Out of Home Therapeutic Residential Care, supporting those with high and complex needs who require specialised and intensive intervention. 

The role is responsible for comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and review of case plans to ensure permanency and positive outcomes for children, young people and their families. Working closely with Therapeutic Specialists, House Supervisors and other team members, the Case Worker ensures that support is integrated, coordinated and tailored to each young person’s needs. 

A strong focus is placed on collaboration with specialist and mainstream services, as well as building meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal and CALD agencies, to improve outcomes and provide holistic support for young people and their families.

About You:

You are a dedicated and compassionate practitioner who is committed to improving the lives of vulnerable young people, particularly those with complex mental health, disability, emotional and behavioural needs. You bring strong assessment, case planning and analytical skills, along with the ability to make sound decisions and maintain clear, meaningful records. You thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments and work confidently alongside Therapeutic Specialists, carers, families and external service providers. 

This is Full Time opportunity based in Belconnen, ACT within our ACT Out of Home Care program. This role reports to the Case Management Coordinator.

What You will Do:

  • Manage a case load and maximise the opportunities for all children and young people to benefit from the therapeutic approach.
  • Ensure all statutory child protection requirements are adhered to
  • Participate in Care Team and Reflective Practice meetings, service networks, inter agencies and forums as required
  • Ensure that children and young people’s wellbeing is actively safeguarded and that any concerns are reported immediately

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Management or relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience in casework practice preferably in Out of Home Care.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of Out of Home Care policy standards and quality frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

You must have a:

  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles).
