Family Disability Practitioner

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting families and children with complex disability needs?

As a Family Disability Practitioner, you will provide intensive, flexible, and tailored support to families caring for children with complex disability support needs. Working within the Western Regional Parenting Service, you will partner with parents and carers to strengthen family capacity, maintain sustainable care arrangements, and support children to remain safely with their families wherever possible.

This is a fixed term Part-Time (2-days a week/ 16.12 hrs) opportunity based in Footscray within our Western Regional Parenting Service – Community Programs. This position reports to the coordinator - Regional Parenting Services.

This fixed term position comes to an end on June 30th 2028.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Disability, Education, Health, Early Childhood, Community Development, Family Work, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience working with people with disabilities, including supporting children and families with complex needs.
• Knowledge of family and community services and how it intersects with disability services
• Cultural awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture, values, and the challenges faced by Aboriginal children and families.
• Experience working respectfully with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.

You must have a:

• Valid and current Driver’s Licence
• Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop)
• Valid Employee Working with Children Check
• Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
