About the role:

The ITC Caseworker is responsible for providing high quality and effective casework services for young people in Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) with a focus on effective planning, implementation, monitoring and review of case plans to achieve permanency and identified outcomes for young people and their families.

This will be achieved through an interactive and dynamic case management approach, with an emphasis on ongoing analysis, decision-making and record keeping; ensuring the young person’s needs are identified and met.

The ITC Caseworker works closely with ITC Coordinators, Therapeutic Specialists, House Managers and other ITC staff to provide a wholistic therapeutic response that supports young people to heal from trauma and achieve their full potential.

The ITC Caseworker will provide therapeutic casework services within a trauma informed therapeutic framework and work collaboratively with the ITC team to implement strategies and plans for individual young people that address presenting issues, facilitate the development of new skills and perspectives, promote positive behavioural outcomes and increase engagement in education, employment, training and community activities.


This is a Permanent Full-Time (38 hrs per week) opportunity based in Lismore, NSW, within our PSP Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC). The position reports to the ITC Coordinator

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A Bachelor degree in social work, youth work, community services or a relevant field;
  • Experience working with young people with complex trauma and an understanding of adolescent development, trauma, attachment and resilience theory;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in casework practice preferably in OOHC or child protection; and the ability to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families. Experience in therapeutic residential care will be highly regarded;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
