ABOUT US
McAuley Community Services for Women helps women and children who have faced family violence and homelessness to take control of their lives. Through a range of supports including accommodation, legal, health, recreation and social responses, we support women to leave us with restored capacity and greater opportunities for safe housing, economic capability and wellbeing. We work alongside women and children, recognising their strengths and fostering their resilience to create a new future.
Feminism, intersectionality and anti-oppressive practices are imbedded within our client practice and our culture.
This is a Permanent Part-Time (30.4 hours per week - 0.8 EFT) opportunity based in Footscray within our Family Violence and Homelessness Program. The position reports to the Team Leader.
Are you passionate about creating safe, empowering spaces for women and children escaping family violence? We're looking for a compassionate and resilient Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated Family Violence program and provide critical, person-centered support in our supported accommodation service.
This is more than just a job — it's an opportunity to make a tangible difference every single day. You'll walk alongside women and children as they rebuild their lives, offering emotional support, practical assistance, and a steady presence during moments of crisis and recovery.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide tailored, trauma-informed support that helps women and children feel safe, heard, and empowered.
- Help bring their support plans to life — from emotional recovery to building everyday living skills and increasing social connection.
- Collaborate with a passionate team to deliver holistic, high-quality care that puts families first.
- Facilitate group programs and activities that promote healing, learning, and connection.
- Contribute to safety planning, crisis response, and risk management — including working with partner services such as mental health, AOD, police, and child protection.
- Participate in a solo and after-hours roster, providing responsive support when it's needed most.
Who You Are:
You're calm under pressure, driven by purpose, and grounded in compassion. You understand the complexity of family violence and are committed to walking alongside those experiencing trauma with dignity, patience, and respect.
Please address the full Key Selection Criteria outlined in the PD as part of your application.
