MacKillop Family Services is expanding into Queensland, launching a Foster Care Recruitment program across the Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland region. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up – helping establish and grow a service that will have a lasting impact on children, young people, and families.

We’re looking for an experienced, values driven, and highly motivated Foster Care Recruitment Coordinator to lead and support our recruitment efforts in this exciting new phase. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in building the program, finding, developing, and supporting foster carers, ensuring children and young people have access to safe, stable, and trauma-informed care.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead and support the Foster Care Recruitment team through coaching, supervision, and development
  • Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process including screening, assessment, training, and approval of carers
  • Work closely with Community Engagement teams to attract and inspire prospective foster carers
  • Build strong partnerships with Child Safety Service Centres and key stakeholders
  • Coordinate and support external assessors in line with accreditation processes
  • Ensure accurate data management across internal systems and reporting requirements
  • Facilitate training such as “Getting Ready to Start” and complete carer assessments where required
  • Champion trauma informed practice and the Sanctuary Model across all aspects of the program
  • Travel regularly across regional areas including Rockhampton, Gladstone, and Bundaberg

We are recruiting a Foster Care Recruitment Coordinator based across the Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland region, with regular travel required. The role sits within the Queensland Carer Recruitment Service team and reports to the National Leader, Foster Care Development.

This is a full time position with flexibility required, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services, marketing, public relations, or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and team management
  • Experience in carer recruitment, assessment, training, or community engagement
  • Experience delivering training or group facilitation
  • Strong administrative and reporting capabilities
  • The ability to build meaningful relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders
  • A commitment to children’s safety, wellbeing, and cultural respect
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the issues faced by Aboriginal children and families
