Our History

Established in 1997, MacKillop Family Services strives to ensure all families are supported to provide children with a safe and permanent home, and the best possible start to their lives. Our history dates to the 1800's and was founded on a deep commitment to caring for the most marginalised children, young people and families in our community. What Will You Be Doing?

As an Assistant House Supervisor, you'll play a key role in the supervision of the day-to-day running of our Residential Care homes, ensuring provision of quality care of children and young people, whilst supporting the Residential House Supervisor in leading a team through cooperation, collaboration and professionalism.

This position is situated within our Southern Metro Out-of-home care (OoHC) program and reports directly to the Residential House Supervisor. Our Southern services span and operate across the City of Port Phillip, Bayside City Council, Kingston City Council, Frankston City Council, Mornington Peninsula Shire and Casey City Council.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity (1EFT) based in the Kingston City Council area, with our primary South Metro office located in Dandenong South, VIC.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this position, you will bring:

• A relevant Diploma and experience, or a willingness to enrol into a relevant Diploma, including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (Residential Care Skill Set)*
• Strong experience and knowledge within Residential Care, specifically Out of Home Care (OOHC) for children and young people within a therapeutic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and support a team of Residential Care Workers.
• Proven ability to relate to and work with children and young people who may experience social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.

What You Must Have

Successful applicants must have the following:

• Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
• Must have a First Aid Certificate with a minimum of six (6) months remaining validity.
• Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
• Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
• Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles).
• A relevant minimum mandatory qualification, including completion of four (4) additional mandatory competencies (Residential Care Skill Set)*

*Please note: Completion of the Residential Care Skill Set (RESCARESS1) units is minimum mandatory requirement in order for your application to be considered. Alternatively, you must be willing to enrol and complete these units upon successful appointment.

The four (4) mandatory units are:

• CHCPRT034 – Work with children and young people with complex trauma attachment issues and needs (formerly CHCPRT010)
• CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care
• CHCPRT033 – Provide support to children and youth in out-of-home care (formerly CHCPRT009)
• CHCCCS009 – Facilitate responsible behaviour

Any costs associated with enrolment into these units is the responsibility of the candidate. Candidates must select their own education provider and provide proof of their enrolment upon successful appointment.
