About the role:
The FPRR Program includes an initial intensive intervention phase, delivered through a mobile and integrated approach, followed by a sustained service support phase, aimed at preventing at-risk children entering or re-entering care.
FPRR work collaboratively with families, child protection and the families support systems to assist the family to develop and achieve self-identified goals. Families may be experiencing complex challenges such as early Child Protection involvement, disability-related care needs, mental health concerns, substance use, family violence, or their own history of being in care.
The FPR Practitioner will provide whole-of-family, outreach, wraparound services to families where children’s ages range from unborn to adolescents. Working flexibly, as part of a team they will report to the FPR Coordinator.
The FPR Practitioner will deliver services in the home and community as needed for approximately 4 to 6 months. However, if needed the intervention may benefit from more extended engagement before being referred to other services. The team will deliver services in the family’s home with FPR Practitioners being with the family several times per week to build the families capacity to provide for their children’s health, safety, and development as well as work towards building their self-reliance and sustainability through access to education, vocational training, and employment
This is a Full-Time Fixed Term Opportunity (Ending in April 2027) based in Footscray within our Family Preservation Reunification Program. The position reports to the FPR Coordinator
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience and skills in assessment and clinical interventions and family centred practice with vulnerable children, young people and families with complex needs
- Sound knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and policies relating to child welfare and the Best Interests of the Child Practice Model.
- Highly developed skills in assessing risks, needs and safety for vulnerable children, young people and families.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, written, verbal and computer skills.

You must have a:
- Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
