Our Residential Support Worker provides general support and advocacy, emotional support, social inclusion and daily living skills to women and children in a supported accommodation environment.

McAuley House provides a place for recovery and reconnection with staff with the goal of supporting the next steps into housing security, and a life free from violence.
What does this role entail?
• Ensuring the immediate needs of women and children are met, e.g., clothing, food, toiletries, etc.
• Assisting clients with daily living skills, including supporting them to maintain their accommodation, and assisting with transportation.
• Supporting the occupancy and turnover of units including preparing rooms, light cleaning, and logging of maintenance and occupational health and safety issues.
• Undertaking other program duties as required e.g. tidying of common areas, shopping, managing donations, and maintaining the overall presentation of the facility in line with McAuley values.
• Undertaking cooking and kitchen duties to feed a small group of women on Friday for McAuley House community lunch
This is a Part-Time (22.8 hours per week) opportunity based in Ballarat within our homeless services for women program.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Certificate or diploma qualification in community services, or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications.
- A genuine interest in supporting the wellbeing of women experiencing homelessness.
- Demonstrate empathy and a non-judgemental manner.
- Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability and consistency.
You must have a:
- Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles).
