The Permanency Support Program (PSP) in Grafton offers a range of foster care and therapeutic care services designed to support children and young people in out-of-home care. 


Position Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caseworker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering effective case work services to children and young people in Out-of-Home-Care and Permanency Support Programs. You will also support and develop carers and assist in the recruitment of foster and kinship carers.

This is a full-time fixed term position until August 2026 (38 hours) reporting to the PSP co-ordinator

Primary Objectives:

  • Ensure children and young people in Out-of-Home-Care and Permanency Support Programs receive services that meet their needs.
  • Support foster and kinship carers in providing high-quality care and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with a variety of specialist and mainstream services.
  • Develop strong partnerships with Aboriginal and CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a case load effectively and meet individual targets.
  • Develop, implement, and review individual case plans to address the emotional, social, behavioural, developmental, and educational needs of children and young people.
  • Safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people and report any concerns immediately.
  • Ensure case work practice aligns with organisational values, policies, and frameworks.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
  • Tertiary qualification in social work or a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience in casework practice, preferably in Out-of-Home-Care.
  • Proven ability to work with children and young people with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.


Additional Requirements:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid and current Working with Children Card.
  • Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles).
  • Satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services.
